Introduction to From the Sea to the Temple
From the Sea to the Temple is a collection of stories about life in the U.S. Merchant Marine. Most, but not all, take place aboard ship. I wrote these long after I had left the sea and joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Looking back on these events of many years ago, I realized that many of them involved life lessons and moral issues, some of them quite serious. What I have done in these essays is reminisce about several interesting experiences and examine them from the perspective of the Gospel. I hope that readers will find these tales entertaining, their values uplifting, and their combination of the Merchant Marine and the Gospel unique.
